Emphasizing on the importance of mother tongue in our lives, the Vice President encouraged the youth to practice, expand and propagate their mother tongue. Shri Naidu said, “I want to see the day when every Indian speaks to his fellow countrymen in his mother tongue, administration should be carried out in the mother tongue and all government orders are issued in the people’s own language.” He also called for the use of local languages in court proceedings.
On the escalation of social and other tensions in the conflict-torn world, the Vice President said that peace is the first requirement for the progress of humanity. “Peace has a wide range of implications – it promotes social harmony and paves the way for progress and prosperity,” he said. He said that the ‘dividend of peace’ benefits every stakeholder and brings wealth and happiness to the society.

Referring to our age-old civilizational values of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and ‘Lok: Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu’, Shri Naidu said that India’s commitment to peace and welfare of humanity goes beyond geographical boundaries. He said that, “India is known as the land of peace. We have always given top priority to maintain peace and ensure harmonious life of all sections of the society.”

Given the shared history and civilization of South Asian countries, he also called for respect for the linguistic, ethnic and cultural diversity in the region, which reflects the core values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence. “As the ‘spiritual capital’ of the world, India will continue to play its part in maintaining peace and ensuring harmony,” he said.

Congratulating all those involved in the establishment of the South Asia Institute of Peace and Reconciliation (SAIPR), the Vice President expressed the hope that the Institute would become an important center for academic discussions and move forward in spreading the values of peace and harmony. will act as a springboard. It is noteworthy that in the Golden Jubilee year of Gayatri Teerth, SAIPR has been established at Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice President remembered Lord Buddha and Emperor Ashoka and said that he preferred Dhamma Ghosh over ‘Yuddha Ghosh’ (war) and Panchsheel as propounded by Lord Buddha is the basis of our foreign policy.

Shri Naidu also appreciated the efforts being made by Deva Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya in collaboration with various institutions to popularize Yoga and Meditation across the world. He described Yoga as India’s unique gift to humanity.

After inaugurating the institute, Vice President Shri Naidu visited SAIPR and Asia’s first Center for Baltic Culture and Studies. He also visited the Pragyesh Mahakal temple and planted a Rudraksh plant in the university campus. During his visit to the University, he was also shown various facilities at the Institute like Paper Manufacturing Unit, Agricultural and Cow Based Products Center and Handloom Training Center. The Vice President also paid tribute to the martyrs at the ‘Wall of Heroes’ at the DSVV campus and launched various publications of the University including the new website of the University.
