Developed touch-less touch screen technology

Indian scientists have provided an economical solution through printing technology to develop a low-cost touch-cum-proximity sensor ie touch-cum-proximity sensor called Touchless Touch Sensor.
The coronavirus pandemic has accelerated efforts to adapt our lifestyles to pandemic scenarios. Businesses have naturally been inspired by strategies to reduce the risk of spreading the virus, especially in public places where touchscreens have become almost indispensable at self-service kiosks, ATMs, and vending machines.

Scientists from the Autonomous Institutes of Nano and Soft Matter Sciences (CENS) of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, and Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced and Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru have created a transparent printing-aided pattern (about 300 µm resolution) Has set up a semi-automatic production plant for the production of electrodes which has the potential to be used in advanced touchless screen technologies.
Pro. Yes. You. The work, led by Kulkarni and colleagues and funded by DST-Nanomission at CENS, was recently published in the journal Materials Letters. Scientist working on this project Dr. Ashutosh K. “We have developed a touch sensor which senses the touch of objects moving near or near from a distance of 9 cm from the device,” Singh said.

Dr. Indrajit Mandal, another co-author of the paper, said, “We are building a few more prototypes using our patterned electrodes to prove their practicality for other smart electronic applications. These patterned electrodes can be made available on request to interested industries and R&D laboratories to explore collaborative projects.” New, low-cost patterned transparent electrodes include use in advanced smart electronic devices such as touchless screens and sensors. There is a lot of potentials to be done. This touchless touch sensor technology can help prevent the spread of viruses transmitted through contact.
